RESCUE STORY OF THE MONTH AND
RESCUE PHOTO OF THE MONTH
RULES FOR SUBMISSIONS
Urban H.A.R.T. is interested in publishing rescue stories from the rescue community and rescue photographs. To accomplish this goal, we are actively soliciting submissions from every member of the fire / rescue services. The goal is to give credit where it is due and provide an international forum for discussion. Publication of either a rescue story or rescue photo will give instant international recognition to the author.
For Rescue Story submissions, we are interested in rescue stories that explain the incident thoroughly and include the following minimum information: situation upon arrival, decisions made to address situation, actual rescue method /systems employed, resolution of the incident, rescue training of the individuals involved.
For Rescue Photo submissions, we are interested in photos that show the human element of the rescue and if possible, some of the rescue methods/ systems employed.
Official Rules
The Rescue Story of the Month and Rescue Photo of the Month, respectively are monthly contests and therefore, applicants are encouraged to submit their materials immediately. Materials submitted will not be held for greater than six months.
Eligibility
The Urban H.A.R.T. ONLINE Rescue Story and Rescue Photo contest are open to anyone. Stories or photographs that have been previously published, however, are not eligible. If a photo is submitted along with a rescue story, it will also be considered an independent submission to the photo contest.
Judging
Urban H.A.R.T. shall be the sole judge of all submissions. All decisions by the Urban H.A.R.T. staff shall be final.
Publication
Urban H.A.R.T. ONLINE reserves the right to publish all stories and photographs submitted with appropriate credit given to the author/ photographer. The author/ photographer retains full copyright to his/her story and images.
Claim of Ownership
Contestants must own all rights to the works submitted and model releases are the contestant responsibility. If there are any discrepancies as to the correct owner of the photograph or author of the story, Urban H.A.R.T. reserves the right to eliminate the story or picture from the contest.
Responsibility
Although special care will be taken in handling every entry, Urban H.A.R.T.cannot be held responsible for loss, damage or delays occurring during transportation or judging.
Acceptance of Rules
Participation in the contest indicates acknowledgement of the contest rules and acceptance of those rules.

Alternatively, we prefer to have the story submitted on a 3.5" floppy disk in generic text format saved with your name (i.e. a submission by John Doe would read doe.txt).
NOTE: If you want the Rescue Story you submit returned to you, you MUST include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Rescue Story of the Month submissions must include the following information or it will not be considered.

Brief Description of the Fire Department (e.g. rural/urban, etc.)
Position with the Fire/ Rescue Company
E-mail Address (if you want people to contact you directly)
Phone number (only for verification, if necessary and will not be published).

NOTE: Each submission must include the following information or it will not be considered:
Full Name
Your Mailing Address
Description of photo (25 words or less, please.)
E-mail Address (if you want people to contact you directly).
Phone number (only for verification, if necessary and will not be published).
Submit this information in your email message, or in a text file with you name (e.g. doe.txt).
NOTE: Electronic submissions must be on 3.5" floppy disk and should be scanned at 72 DPI and limited to 4x6 inches in size. We will crop to the appropriate size. Use generic electronic formats such as GIF, PICT or JPEG as your file format and if possible, avoid program specific formats. Also, name the file in a manner that corresponds with your last name (i.e. a submission by John Doe would read doe.gif (or if multiple photos, doe1.gif, doe2.gif, etc).
Mail: Prints up to 4x6 will be accepted, mounted prints will not be accepted. The submitted prints should be placed between cardboard in the envelope and the envelope itself should contain the warning: "PHOTOS. DO NOT BEND".

NOTE: Urban H.A.R.T. reserves the right to alter the resolution on your photo if selected for internet publication. Urban H.A.R.T. will not be responsible for photo quality or incompatible electronic formats. You are responsible for making sure that your photo is in the best possible condition and the best possible resolution.
